On April 26th, both grade 10 History classes welcomed Dr. Fran Gregor of the Halifax Women's History Society. Dr. Gregor's lecture, entitled "Mother Was Off Winning the War", taught the students about the extraordinary role women volunteers played in the war effort in Halifax during World War 2. We also discussed the society's WOW (Woman on the Waterfront) project, which is working to fund a piece of public art to commemorate the role of women in Halifax during wartime.
