Last Wednesday, Sra. Montalvo-March took las clases de español 11/12 to Mexicali Rosa’s on Spring Garden Rd. to have a Latina experience. After ordering our food with many a “por favors”, we spent the rest of our lunch chatting. Speaking Spanish helps with pronunciation as well as an overall understanding of the language since it requires students to recall grammar concepts and vocabulary. For example, in preparation for this excursión, students were asked to learn vocabulary related to food.
It was a great lunch full of Spanish culture and language. The only regret I had was that we didn’t have enough time to taste los churros before we had to go to Math and Chemistry class. This little journey to the outside world reminded me that concepts learned in Spanish class are not limited to just the classroom. Whether you would like to give your thoughts on a book or to join in with some light “chisme”, Sra. Montalvo-March has you prepared.
