On
Wednesday, October 14, 2015, Joan Smith visited Sacred Heart
School to speak to the grade four students about Mi’kmaq culture, traditions
and beliefs. After sharing her
artifacts, the students and teachers
participated in a song about The Great
Eagle. The students had a chance to
dance and play a traditional musical instrument. Then the grade fours met outside in the
front of the school where Joan guided them through a Smudge Ceremony. The students
enjoyed Joan’s visit and learning about the Mi’kmaq way of life. Thank you Joan, for being with us!
