This year’s annual play production, by Sacred Heart School of Halifax, brings you drama, comedy, betrayal, and mistaken identity from the very depths of our Little Theatre! Be prepared for the most thrilling and exciting play ever to hit the stage! Sacred Heart School of Halifax presents The Unbalanced Accounts of the Auditor General !

In a small Russian district, the Mayor, Anton Antonovich (Max Taylor), discovers that a government auditor was given orders to go to his town and inspect the conditions. Fear breaks out in the minds of the officials and two gentlemen burst through the doors bearing the news that the auditor has been present in the village for two full weeks, incognito! In a panic, the officials scurry to their posts and prepare to demonstrate their “virtue” and “dedication” to the public good. All while trying to keep the auditor from finding out the truth about their trespasses against the government and each other including: embezzlement, mistreatment of prisoners, and gross violations of the law.

Watch as the quirky, mischievous and cocky characters are brought to life by our impressive actors. The government consists of the smart-mouthed Charity Commissioner, Zemlyanka (William Traves), the puppy-loving Provincial Judge, Lyapkin Tyapkin (Alex Jackson), the paranoid School Director, Khlopov (Manal Quraishi), and two overly-enthusiastic gentlemen, Dobchinski (Shannon Jankari) and Bobchinski (Abigail Sinclair).

We have behind us the outstanding guidance of director Andrew Aven-Gillis, magnificent producer Charles Follini and hard-working stage manager Nathan Otley. Our marvelous cast (clothed in exquisite costumes by our incredible volunteers Meredith Wilson, Cathleen Niedermayer) is eager to tell you the story of a Russian district full of self-interested officials in this adaptation of Nikolai Gogol’s work “The Government Inspector.”

Mark the date on your calendars! This surely is a show you don’t want to miss! Opening night is Wednesday, April 6th and shows will continue every night at 7pm including the final performance on Friday, April 8th.

Tickets are $12 ($8 for students). Tickets may be purchased at the door or by calling (902) 422-4459. Sacred Heart School of Halifax is located at 5820 Spring Garden Rd., Halifax.
