When Kailena Van de Nes, Class 2001, moved to Ottawa almost 9 years ago, she would have never imagined she would eventually fulfill a lifelong dream - to open her very own dance studio. After graduating from Acadia University with her degree in Recreation Management, Kailena intended on pursuing a career as an airline pilot. However, once she began teaching part time at several community centres in Ottawa, she realized that dance was her true passion in life.
Kailena turned what used to be just a couple of dance classes at a community centre into a full dance program at the Glebe Community Centre since she began in 2005. Each week, Kailena teaches over 20 classes a week to dancers ages 3 - 18 in ballet, jazz, hip hop, contemporary of all levels. Opening a dance studio for her was the natural next step after she witnessed her hard work and dedication come to life.
