The
environmental pledge ceremony for this year’s graduates took place on Tuesday
June 14th.
Our honoured guests this year were Lil MacPherson, Poet Joyce Caines,
Green Schools representative Anne Sarah Eyrlich and Naomi Hill. Lil MacPherson
is the co-owner of the Wooden
Monkey and a candidate for mayor in the October 15 municipal election.
Naomi Hill is the Director of Sustainability
at Fusion Halifax which is a non-profit
organization that challenges young professionals in Halifax to think forward
and take charge of their city’s future. Fusion values our community and
believes that civic engagement and the development of young professionals are
key to building a city that we can call home for years to come.
Here
is the pledge:
I pledge to explore and take into account the social and
environmental consequences of any task or job I consider and will try to
improve these aspects in any organization for which I work.
