Metro District Cross Country Champions!

Metro District Cross Country Championships were directed by Mr. Jason Scott and Fountain Academy! Our Junior Boys team had a fantastic race and claimed the banner for their division! Will Nickerson led the team that was made up of Elliot Davis, Lauchlin McDonough, Aiden James, Christophe Sylvester, Timothy Brodin, Braydon Cox and Matthew Croft.

The Junior Girls also had a strong showing, finishing third in their division behind Halifax Grammar and Halifax Central.  Mary Cate Driscoll-Sangster was our sole runner in the Intermediate Girls category but beat the entire field to claim the top position.

And...
The Capital Region Cross Country Championships were held last Thursday.  Sacred Heart and Fountain Academy had a total of 23 runners.

All of the girls ran well. Most notably, Mary Cate had a wonderful run and finished 4th overall and qualified for provincials.

Fountain Academy had a stellar day.

Will Nickerson was 13th overall to qualify for provincials (the first 15 runners qualify) and the Junior Boys team of Will, Aiden James, Braydon Cox, Christophe Sylvester, Timothy Brodin, Lauchlin McDonough and Elliot Davis finished 5th of 24 teams to qualify as a team.

The Intermediate Boys team of Kyle Smith,  David Sapp, Mitchell Reardon and Julien Brown had a very strong showing and also qualified for provincials.

The Senior Boys team of Benno Orr, Robert Sapp, Ronald Gutierrez, Alex Jackson and Oisin Heavey beat out Dartmouth High by one point to qualify as well.

It is the first time Fountain Academy will be represented by three teams at provincials (which will be hosted by St. F.X. in Antigonish next week).

Congrats to Mary Cate and all of the Fountain runners!
