Tales of the Old North - Nov. 27 & 28

Three of our students, Rory Flynn, Sandler Gordon and Sophie Warwick-Baur are part of "Xara Youth Ensemble", one of the two choral ensembles that make up Xara Choral Theatre Society.  Alums Teagan Muir and Sarah Bjornson also belong to this talented group.

A reminder that this weekend on November 27th and 28th, Xara is presenting Tales of the Old North at Alderney Landing Theatre. Drawn from the classic collection of Norwegian folktales by the same name, Tales of the Old North tells the story of a brave little girl named Ariana. On a journey filled with magical characters based on Nova Scotian folklore, Ariana travels on the winter Wind, and battles an Evil Queen to save an unlikely friend, a great White Bear who may hold the key to saving Ariana's village from hunger and cold.

This production involves Xara's youth ensemble and our young women's choir as well as a few friends who round out the chorus of 45 singers. (The giant white bear puppet will also be a highlight!). Many of you have heard Xara perform and can attest that they have a beautiful sound - no surprise that a couple of years ago they won the award for the top women's choir in Canada!

This is a great show for a group of friends or a family, tickets are $20 with a $10 price for children (there is a matinee available). You can purchase tickets online here: https://alderneylanding.ticketpro.ca/#def_1120008962

They also have a community tickets program where you can purchase tickets on behalf of someone who might not be otherwise able to attend - two of our community partners are Adsum House and Veith House. Purchase community tickets and receive a tax receipt here: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/xara-choral-theatre-society/
