And, We Will Remember Them...

The Sacred Heart Elementary School has been working on a poppy project over the past month.  The inspiration came from the installation of poppies at the Tower of London in the UK.  Barbara-Ann O'Halloran came up with the idea for the Elementary School to do a version of it for the SHES Remembrance Day ceremony on Friday, November 7th.  With the support of Mr. Tugwell, Mrs. O'Halloran and Ms. D'Arcy Wilson, SHES Art Teacher, came up with a plan and purchased the materials and then organized the classes to make the clay poppies.

They worked with clay and each child from Primary to Grade 6 used a template and moulded the clay into a poppy shape. After they were all fired, the students painted and glazed them.

Each poppy was created in memory of a Canadian soldier killed during WW1.

Below are pictures of the process and the ceremony today.  There are also pictures of the SHHS High School Remembrance Day Ceremony this morning.
