SHSH Director of Advancement Named

Dear Sacred Heart Community,

I have some fantastic news .... Sacred Heart School of
Halifax has been engaged in a search process for a
Director of Advancement. The School has needed
this position for some time to strengthen and
coordinate our fundraising initiatives and community
outreach. It is a priority of the School's Strategic Plan
and we are fortunate to be able to create the office
at this time.

Grateful and thrilled, our search brought us home to
Miriam Regan-MacNeil, a graduate of Sacred Heart
School (1980), a current parent (Tallulah, Grade 4), a
member of the Advancement Committee of the Board
of Governors (since 2011), and Co-Chair of the 2014
Bursary Dinner.  In fact, her husband is also an alum
of Sacred Heart; the RSCJ led Ian through his Primary year!

Miriam will officially begin her new position on March 19
The Advancement Office will be located at the top of the main
staircase of the original 1850 section of the building. Other
Sacred Heart schools in the Network have similar positions,
as do most accredited independent schools in Canada (we are a
member of CAIS). Establishing this senior position at our School
will help us to coordinate communications, public relations,
fundraising, and recruitment efforts.  Miriam will work directly with
me, Patricia Nichols, Sheryl Penny, Robyn Erickson, Barbara Martell,
Brian Lumsden, our Principals, faculty and staff, parents, PR and
Advancement Board committees, and with the Alumnae/i Executive
and Parents' Guild. She will continue as co-chair of the Bursary Dinner
to be held April 26, 2014.  (In fact, Miriam was the emcee of our
record-setting 2013 Bursary Dinner!)

Please join me in sharing the good news of this appointment. We are further
advancing our educational mission with a person who has lived the Sacred
Heart philosophy for many years. She brings creativity, energy, tremendous
knowledge of our community, and years of professional experience,
leadership, and human resource expertise - most recently she was a member
of the corporate executive team of Centennial Hotels Limited.

It is a distinct privilege to welcome Miriam Regan-MacNeil home to the Heart
where she already belongs! Thank you for joining me in giving her a warm
reception, and for spreading this terrific news with friends and family!

With Gratitude,
Anne Wachter, RSCJ
