I am very pleased to report that Sacred Heart students Rory Flynn and Mattea Roach have been selected to represent Canada at Oxford University in March of 2015.
Rory and Mattea placed 1st and 2nd individually at the selection event held in Montreal this weekend, defeating 86 other debaters from across Canada in the process. This is their second selection to attend the senior high event (although they also represented Canada in a junior high competition in Britain). It is the first time debaters from one school have taken first and second place.
Sarah Björnson was the only other Sacred Heart student to attend, and she was the third highest Nova Scotia debater at the event, ahead of 9 other Nova Scotia debaters. Our congratulations to all three on an outstanding performance.
