D'Arcy Wilson, ES Art Teacher Receives Recognition
Congratulations to our Elementary School art teacher and alumna, D'Arcy Wilson, who was named the Centre for Art Tapes 2014-2015 local artist-in-residence recently.
The Chronicle Herald says: "The residency, which takes place at the Centre for Art Tapes from December through March, provides an opportunity for medial artists to experiment and develop new works involving audio, video or new media." And goes on to say that D'Arcy "proposes to resurrect the little-known historical fact that Halifax was home to the first North American zoo, located beside what is now the Armdale Rotary."
We are very proud of D'Arcy. This is one to watch!

Sacred Heart Sylvestre Family Meet Commander Chris Hadfield in Halifax Nov. 16th
The Sylvestre family went to hear Commander Chris Hadfield's presentation on Sunday at the Convention Centre. They said: "It was an awesome time. Mr. Hadfiled talked about his experience in the International Space Station and the importance of having a dream. Anyone, at any age, should have a dream to pursue. He was very inspiring and has a very good sense of humour."
The Sylvestre boys stayed after the presentation even though most people were gone. They sneaked back stage to ask if they could potentially see him quickly to shake his hand and it worked out! They gave him a picture of one of the boys beside his rocket telling him this little guy had a dream. "It seemed like he remembered Christophe from last year."
The Sylvestres acknowledged two of the teachers who helped the boys along the way:
"Mrs. Harper-Given, thank you for pointing out this opportunity!
Ms. Alison Boyer, thank you for organizing the opportunity last year."
