David Sapp, Gr. 8, qualified to represent Canada at two international Optimist sailing regattas this year. The optimist is a one person 7 foot dinghy for sailors 15 and under. David is one of 10 Canadian sailors competing at the Opti North Americans in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico from July 5 to 18th. There will be 180 sailors from 17 countries participating. In October, he will represent Canada again with four other Canadians at Opti Worlds in Argentina. Three of the five Canadians are from Nova Scotia!
Another Sacred Heart sailor, Cameron Shaw, Gr. 9, competed at Opti Worlds last year in Italy. He qualified again this year. Instead, he has advanced to skipper a larger class 2 person boat called a 420.
